Americo was born in Merida, Venezuela in 1980. At 16 years of age, he started studying painting and drawing with Maria Elena Rabago.
In 2001 he was a guest student in Workshop Colour VI directed by Luis Fernando Matheus in the former School of Art and Design of Andes University (Merida, Venezuela).
Matheus showed special interest in the work of Americo. Between 2002-2003 he studied directly with Matheus.
Americo travelled extensively both inside and outside of Venezuela in the company of his family. His numerous trips were the inspiration behind the series Flight Maps.
From 2005 he started to take part in exhibitions, since then his work was included in several art shows both inside and outside Venezuela.
In 2009 he did his first solo exhibition, “Flight Maps” in Guernica Gallery (Merida, Venezuela).
In 2012, a selection of his work was included on Contemporary Latin American Art in Czech Republic which took place at Ostrava University.
In 2018 he did his second solo exhibition, “Americo’s Cars” in La Otra Banda Gallery at Andes University (Merida, Venezuela).
In 2023 his third solo exhibition, “Americo the Painter” took place at Espacio Proyecto Libertad (Merida, Venezuela).
In 2010 Polar Fundation editorial released a limited edition print of the book <>Americo y su Pincel: Imágenes de Un Mundo Especial (Americo and His Paint Brush: Images of a Special World) where Professor Maria Luz Salas de Morales narrated and analysed his creative process through painting. The book was thoroughly illustrated with work from the artist.
In 2014 an electronic edition of the book was released by Editorial Academic Vicerrectorate of Andes University (Merida, Venezuela) and Polar Foundation. You can download a Spanish version of the book via this website.
Americo’s work was featured in Venezuela in several newspapers and magazines such as: Frontera, Pico Bolívar, Magazine Español and in the magazines Claro!, Bienestar y Conciencia y Dialogo.
Americo’s work served as inspiration in several fields both inside and outside the art world. US creative specialist Denise Jacobs cited Americos work extensively as an example of creative expression.
